First lesson with Paul.

Hi All,

I had my first lesson with Paul yesterday. Really enjoyed and appreciated the way he approached the lesson to a complete beginner.

Will be updating my progress here intermittently.

I am sure I will have some questions along the way!

Wish me luck! :)

@Warren Collinson I've signed up to a website called Chordify, where the video of the song plays and a chart shows you the right chords. I really enjoy that. If I had my time again I would have really really focussed on getting my D chord sorted sooner. It was a struggle. You can do an awful lot with the E A and D chords. And remembering to tap my foot in time with the strum. The other thing is practice. I have lessons on Tuesday. It's so easy to have a lesson, get really enthused, and then let everyday life get in the way. Next thing you know the weekend has arrived and you haven't picked up your guitar. Then I'd try to cram in some practice. A bit hopeless really. Best advice I ever saw online was to aim to do 5 minutes every day. Then that five minutes quite easily becomes 20. I've not managed to achieve that always, but the Chordify website/app is really helping me. Other top tip is to break the song down into small bite-sized chunks. Think about nailing a couple of bars, rather than aiming for a couple of verses. Final thought - always try to enjoy it and play with a smile. I have often got very tense. Trying really hard now to play in a more relaxed fashion.
